Excellent Review, I felt the same way when I first heard the album. But over time, this album has taken over me. It is so hypnotic, so meditative and so contemplative. Easily the album of 2009 and a grand come back by AIC.

Not sure about this album yet. The new singer brings nothing new to the table, and he have nearly as many (or any?) demons as Staley had to make the lyrics haunting and edgy. I'm not crazy about the producer on this album either, you can hear the ProTools effect throughout. But Cantrell is a very smart and gifted songwriter and guitarist, and he obviously put it all on the line to try and make the ablum work. He definitely still has "it."

There is alot of old AIC in this new cd so most fans will have no problem picking it up and nodding right along with it. By far not there best work but not forgettable in the least more than worth a listen. The Crunchy churning guitar riffs are there just like they should be. The vocals in places are eerily similar to Lane but never in a outright copying way. Highlights for me were "All Secrets Known" and "Acid Bubble". with any luck they will putting music of this quality for years to come.
