Port O’Brien: Fishy Music Pastries

—by , October 13, 2009

Sounding like a mix between The Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse, Port O’Brien use their folk roots and fuse them with string ensembles and jangly guitars. From having band members who spent their summers as fisherman or as head bakers in Alaska, these Californian indie rockers have a distinct sound influenced by their unique life experiences. They will be playing The Mercury Lounge in NYC on Oct. 14 and at Union Hall in Brooklyn on Oct. 16. Ages 21 and up. portobrien.com
