Pelican: Sonic Sludge

—by , November 28, 2009

If you could weigh Pelican’s songs I don’t think any of them would be less than two tons. Known for their instrumentals ranging from sludge to doom metal, this Chicago band doesn’t need vocals thanks to their aggressive 10-minute stoner rock melodies. With their blast beats and crushing fans with their heavy guitar sound, the band just put out their fourth studio album, We All Come To Need, in late October. Make sure to bring earplugs when Pelican plays Highline Ballroom in NYC with Black Cobra on Dec. 2. They’re extremely loud, but in a good way. All ages.
