The Ugly Club: Hipster Trombone Solo

—by , January 10, 2010

Usually when people see a bunch of lanky skinny guys in a band with a brass section, they’re ready to hear a shitty ska band. Thanks to The Ugly Club, our ears can get a rest from bad Specials covers. Mixing a ‘60s pop sound with hipster bobbing melodies and some powerful brass, this NJ band sets themselves apart from the cloned hipster bands with their unique tunes. They play Knights of Columbus in Garwood, NJ, on Jan. 8 with Embracers & Pickpockets and Loose Women! All ages. They’ll also play a free acoustic set at Webster Hall on Jan. 11. Ages 19 and up. theuglyclubmusic.com.
