Zigmat: World Music Goes Indie

—by , April 29, 2010

Zigmat is a band where ambient indie and electronica collide. Fronted by vocalist Monica Rodriguez and bassist Stephen Yonkin, the band’s sound has softer, mellow vocals backed by swells of musical effects. The Brooklyn-based band formed in 2006, and signed to Ultra Records in Brazil and Actua Music in Spain after releasing their Sounds Of Machines EP in 2008. They released a full-length with the same title in 2009. Hear their unique, worldly sound at the midnight show at Joe’s Pub on May 1. Tickets are $12.
