North Jersey Notes: Audio Insight, Trixter, WDD & Dead Fish Handshake

Audio Insight

A band from Woodbridge, NJ was recently passed my way that just totally blew my mind! The name of the band was Audio Insight and, just out of curiosity, I gave them a listen. The only song that I was able to hear on the band’s myspace page, myspace.com/audioinsightmusic, was an unmixed track called “Sheepskin,” which will be on the band’s debut CD, Dimensions to be released at the end of the month. Though “Sheepskin” was unmixed, the song totally rocked me! First the musicianship in this band was amazing, and second this was a prog-rock trio and the recording sounded fuller than a four or five piece band. Audio Insight is here to make a statement!

In the spring of 2008, bassist Mike Deverin introduced singer/guitarist Anthony Celi to drummer Dan “Sully” Sullivan for the first time, which led to a long-awaited jam session in a friend’s basement. Mike and Anthony had been talking about jamming for months, and in that one session, good chemistry ignited a creative spark between the band members as they jammed on covers. It was during these sessions where their songs “Crucify” and “Numb” were first concieved. As Audio Insight began to get serious, they decided to move from the basement to actual HellHound Studios in Rahway, NJ and Aarius Studios in Sayreville to hone their skills and write their debut.

Due to their college schedules, the boys have all relocated to the North Jersey region and are eager to break into the music scene up here. They will be celebrating the release of Dimensions, at Architekt Live in Butler, NJ in November 13. If you’d like to hear more from Audio Insight, log onto myspace.com/audioinsightmusic.

The song “Whipping Boy” from With Daggers Drawn was recently added to the rotation on Sirius/XM’s Liquid Metal channel. So, a big congrats to them for this accomplishment! This will allow people around the country to hear music from With Daggers Drawn, and it will make them a much bigger band. If you want to give “Whipping Boy” a listen, log onto myspace.com/withdaggersdrawn or request it now on Sirius/XM by calling 1-877-87-HEAVY.

And finally, Rob Ferreira from Dead Fish Handshake recently turned me onto a new venue/studio/music school in North Jersey called Architekt Music in Butler, NJ, which happens to be hosting their Grand Opening this weekend! I logged onto the venue’s site, architektmusic.com, and the place looks great and has an awesome concept behind it. I hope it succeeds as another place for bands to play in the North Jersey area. Opening the celebratory weekend is Dead Fish Handshake, Triphobia, and Downcast Theory this Friday night Oct. 15. Go down there and check it out! For more info, log onto architektmusic.com.
