The folk indie band Lower Dens are embarking on their first headlining tour this month. The group recently released a new album, Nootropics, on Ribbon Music. The combination of dark, eerie music and dreary, haunting vocals create a diverse indie sound. Singer Jana Hunter has such a diverse voice, sometimes feminine, sometimes masculine, which gives the music a very unique quality. Instead of another solo project, Hunter decided to go for a group this time. Along with No Joy and Alan Resnick, the band will play at The Bowery Ballroom in New York on July 19.
