You might recognize singer-songwriter Matthew Stephen Ward if he had Zooey Deschanel next to him on stage as half of She & Him, but this guitarist has his own solo project. You may recognize him under the stage name M. Ward. His solo work is a blend of indie and folk, with some hints of American rock thrown in as well. Deschanel is featured on Ward’s new album, A Wasteland Companion. Ward is playing at Celebrate Brooklyn!, a free summer festival consisting of film, music, performing arts and more. The event takes place at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn on Aug. 7.
