The Texas native blues musician and singer Johnny Winter will be headlining the Hippie Fest Tour at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on Aug. 21. Winter’s recent successful album, Roots, released in Sept. 2011, landed him a performance spot on The David Letterman Show earlier this year. Letterman introduced Winter to the stage by saying, “This is one of the great blues players of the century.” His live performance lives up to the studio produced album, where Winter’s thick and resonating vocals are one of his distinct characteristics as an artist.
