I was recently emailed about a unique and amazing band out of Bergen County. I mean, I’ve heard of brothers performing in the same band, but I’ve never heard of a father-son-daughter outfit. To be brutally honest, I rolled my eyes when I first read the email because I wasn’t really sure how serious these guys were. After clicking onto their EPK, I was absolutely blown away and am totally embarrassed to admit that I did roll my eyes at first. Their name was 3D Rock Band, and singer Lauren D’Imperio’s voice is absolutely amazing! I was hooked within the first minute of the song “911 (Call 911).” The songs “The Rain” and “Believe” also rocked!
According to their bio, 3D Rock Band was formed in 2009 by the father-son-daughter trio of Jerry, Bryan and Lauren D’Imperio. Jerry is the guitarist and keyboardist, and Bryan is the lead guitarist and plays all of the guitar synths. Unfortunately, the family couldn’t do everything themselves, as they needed to hire a bass player and drummer since there were no more siblings. So they brought in harmonica player Geoffrey Fraize, bassist Lew Walther, and drummer George Shater, and to my knowledge, they have to relation to the three D’Imperio’s, otherwise they’d be called the 6D Rock Band.
3D Rock Band are currently out performing local shows and promoting their latest release. Their popularity seems to be growing with every show that they perform, as does their fanbase. The obvious goal here for this family is to take this show on the road and make it a family affair! NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:
My bro Tim McMurtrie, from The Blue Room in Secaucus and main man of the Murder League All-Stars, recently threw together “Rock For Relief,” the first benefit show (that I’ve heard of anyway) in the area for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. It was a three-day event that ran from Nov. 16-18 at The Blue Room. Various local artists and comedians took part in this amazing event with all proceeds and donations going to the Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. If you’d like to donate, please log onto sandynjrelieffund.org. Timmy also mentioned something about Soulfly’s Marc Rizzo doing another Sandy benefit at The Blue Room on Nov. 25, so get your asses to that show.
Have I mentioned yet that the boys from Judge The Fallen have finally landed a new bass player? His name is Troy Thoden, and he’s replacing my bro, Dan Grossberg. Dan left the band over the summer to concentrate on his family. You can’t blame a guy for that! Log onto facebook.com/judgethefallen to give them a listen.
And finally, the night after Thanksgiving (11/23), digest your feast with a night of ‘80s rock at the Bergen PAC in Englewood. You can’t kick the holiday season off any better than with local heroes Trixter and legendary rockers Kix. This is set to be an amazing show, so if you didn’t get your tickets yet, you’re definitely going to lose out! Besides, what else are you going to do after eating all that turkey? For more info, log onto trixterrocks.com. That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!
Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
