Brothers James and Andy Ralph collaborate under the moniker Writer to create a gritty and stomping garage rock sound, alternately raw and hazy. Their debut LP, Brotherface, was released Oct. 2012 and is firmly rooted in both their Southern California upbringing and the pulsating energy of their new home in Brooklyn. The brothers’ music continues to evolve, retaining a foundation of free-flowing and energetic rhythms that bring their songs above the expected sounds of a guitar/drums duo. Writer will be in residence at Pianos on Jan. 8, 15, and 29.
