North Jersey Notes Updates: Set It Free, Pheroze, She Said Fire and More!

The guys from Set It Free just got some big news! Their song “Home Alive” is being featured on the iPhone app Tap Tap Tour, a mobile music game featuring songs from all of today’s hottest artists! That is awesome! You can download a free version of the game in your “app store.” Set It Free’s latest CD, Don’t Stand Alone, will be available on iTunes shortly. For now, you can check out their music video for the title-track at youtu.be/c84n5n6wt5I or visit them at facebook.com/setitfree.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that my brother from another mother, Jeff Hardee, who was my drummer in Hostel Inc. and Sik Twisted Smile, has found himself in a great new band from New York City called Pheroze. The group will be releasing their new EP, Ennui, on April 23, with an EP release party at The Bowery Electric in NYC. You have to keep an eye on these guys! They are awesome! Check them out at pheroze.com.

The gang from NYC’s She Said Fire released their first single off their upcoming debut EP, Boom! The song is called “Funhouse,” and that it is! Well, actually it’s a fun song, and singer Joshua Hawksley’s vocals are pretty impressive on this lead-off single. The band promises that “Funhouse” is only the beginning! Catch She Said Fire live this Friday night (4/12) at Webster Hall for their EP release party. Also performing will be Santino Noir (former lead singer of Scarlet Carson), January Jane, Midnight Mob, and Brand Of Julez. “Funhouse” is available now on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and wherever else you can download music. My new buds from the Hoboken-based metal band Iratetion are about to release a brand new single called “In Blood You Drown.” The song, as well as their previous work, was produced by Ill Niño singer Cristian Machado and bassist Laz Pina at their Soundwars Studios in Hoboken. Iratetion are planning to release “In Blood You Drown” on April 30 with a free download via iratetion.fanbridge.com. For more info about Iratetion or to give them a listen, log onto facebook.com/iratetion.

And finally, the big show this weekend is at Dingbatz in Clifton on Friday night (4/12). JD DeServio from Black Label Society will be bringing his band Cycle Of Pain into town with my bros Black Water Rising, Sekond Skyn, and my band BlackOcean in tow. My boys BlackOcean will be kicking off the night, followed by the new and improved Sekond Skyn, and then Black Water Rising will be unleashing some new material on your asses. Cycle Of Pain will obviously headline the evening and I’m sure the NJ Chapter of the Black Label Society will be in the house, so get your asses there early. This is one show you won’t want to miss and I’m not just saying that because I’m on the bill. Just look at the lineup! Plus, legendary rock deejay Alex Kayne will be spinning the rock all night long! Check out my band BlackOcean at reverbnation.com/blackoceanmusic.

That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!

Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
