North Jersey Notes: Bad Seed Rising, Causticaudio, Charetta and More!

This weekend, one of my favorite bands from the ‘80s era, Heaven’s Edge, will be reuniting for one night in Philadelphia this Friday night (11/8) at World Café Live, but they’re not who I’m featuring this week. It’s the band that they have opening for them that really caught my attention, though they’re not from New Jersey. They’re actually from Maryland, but I wanted to bring your attention to them because they are four kids ranging in ages from 10 to 15, and they play better than some of the 20- to 30-year-olds on the scene today! The name of the group is Bad Seed Rising, and they are awesome!

Bad Seed Rising are just a simple rock and roll band of kids from Columbia, MD that formed only last year. In their short careers, they’ve already shared the stage with great bands like Everclear, Kix, Night Ranger, Mötley Crüe, Johnny Rzeznik and Molly Hatchet. The band recorded their debut EP, 606, at a studio that belongs to the Foo Fighters out in L.A. with producer John “Lou” Lousteau, who’s known for his work with Alice In Chains, Corrosion Of Conformity and Death Angel. Bad Seed Rising are made up of singer and guitarist Francheska, guitarist Mason, bassist Louey (what else?) and drummer Iron Aiden.

Bad Seed Rising released their first single from 606, “I Won’t Be The One,” back in September along with a music video for the song. Let me just say this song is catchy as f**k! A-la-la-la-la-la! I am warning you that you will not be able to get enough of it. Take a look at their video for “I Won’t Be The One” at youtu.be/TCc-4PzKTjw. NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:

Have you had a taste of Causticaudio yet? I’ll take that as a “no!” What the hell are you waiting for? The band features my old Smoke Star brother and best friend in the world, drummer Scotty O’Ferrall, and North Jersey music scene vets, guitarist and singer Pat Piegari and bassist Rich Tannis. The band recently released a new song called “Baywater” off their upcoming EP, which they also have a music video for. You have to check these guys out at facebook.com/causticaudiomusic. I’m not only endorsing these guys because Scotty’s my bro. These guys are just that good! So check them out now!

Speaking of new music, I’ve mentioned a few times that one of my favorite NYC female-fronted bands, Charetta, have a new EP out called Apocalypse. Well, they just sent me a copy of it and I am blown away! Singer Angelina DelCarmen’s super-sultry and sexy vocals give her a darker edge than Lzzy Hale with a bit more range than Maria Brink. I still can’t believe Charetta are not signed yet! You have to check out the songs “I’m Not Your Bitch,” “This Is Your Fall” and the incredible future hit ballad, “Not Made Of Stone.” Check Charetta out now at charetta.com.

And finally, the big show for this weekend! My band, BlackOcean, will be performing at Lower The Veil’s CD release party for their album, Soon, this Saturday night (11/9) at The Saint in Asbury Park. Also performing will be our bros from Audio Empire and Black Angel Down from Baltimore, MD. For more info, log onto Lower The Veil’s Facebook page, facebook.com/lowertheveil.

That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!

Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
