KaiL Baxley: Boxer’s Blues Hit Home

—by , June 16, 2015

Coming off a successful debut effort, KaiL Baxley keeps the ball rolling with his new LP, A Light That Never Dies. Smooth, blues vocals are a constant over tracks featuring everything from rhythmic horn sections to subtle drumbeats. Hailing from the same hometown as funk legend James Brown, Baxley actually befriended Brown when Baxley was a child. The South Carolinian kept his feet moving by beginning an amateur boxing career as well. Baxley will perform at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem on June 19 and at Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 3) in New York City on June 20.
