Norwegian native Jenny Hval and Washington state’s own Briana Marela both offer elegant singer-songwriter samplings. There are many common threads between the two—a poignant depth of content, rightfully unashamed femininity and new records released this summer. Hval’s delicate style of rock has brought her great success through all five of her albums. On the other hand, Marela’s art rock dabbles with more electronic background elements. Both artists will be performing at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on Sept. 6.
