Jane Getter Premonition: Premonitions Of Greatness

Imagine if Joni Mitchell fronted a rock band, a progressive rock band that played eight-minute-long jams, equally indebted to the Grateful Dead and Dream Theater. A band that regularly indulged in back-to-back psychedelic guitar solos that stayed fresh throughout. Imagine if this band had credentials out the wazoo with its members having played with everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to Miles Davis to Frank Zappa to Joe Satriani to the Saturday Night Live House Band. It sounds too good to be true but the Jane Getter Premonition somehow not only embodies that description, they improve on it. Joni comparisons aside, frontwoman Jane Getter and company defy association with any single musician. Their songs embody much of what has been great about the progressive genre from the ’70s until now. See for yourself on Dec. 15 at The Saint in Asbury Park as well as on Dec. 16 at The Iridium in New York City, where they will be joined by none other than the lead singer from Living Colour, as if you needed another reason to check it out.
