Maria’s Local Radar: Me With Creeps

Local friends, family, and readers, this is a call to all! I have been on the hunt for some local talent to chat about in our weekly spotlight, so now is your chance! If you are in a band that has shows around the area, new music to push, or just wants to let the world know how great you are, keep on sending your stuff over to maria@theaquarian.com. Most of my bands I have spotlighted the past few months have been through submissions, and I have become an instant fan, so keep on spreading the word. That being said, I can provide another perfect example backing this statement with my featured band of the week, Me With Creeps.

I have been a fan of Me With Creeps for a while, but it only took an email to really have them resurface on my radar this week. Let me tell you, they deserve to be here. These guys are original, talented, and blowing up in this area. Let’s get to know them a little bit better, shall we? Okay, let’s do it!

Me With Creeps are a metal band from Bergen County, New Jersey, with members including Dominick Ostuni on vocals, George Adamz on guitar, Bobby Torres on guitar, Alfred Chester on bass, Pat Cancian on drums, and Sean Mulligan on keys. I took a listen to their self-titled record, and I have been hooked ever since. It is so fully of energy, passion, and musical skill that it has been on repeat in my office all day. In fact, someone even came in to ask what I was listening to (new fan on the rise as well).

The first track I got into heavily is called “Counting Sheep.” This is a great album opener, setting the tone right off the bat. The evil laughter and ferocious growls allow their intro to really get stuck into your head. With many metal singers, they scream and sing equally as well, which is always mind-boggling to me. I could never do it, and I don’t understand how they do it. I also love the guitars on this track. They even introduce themselves in a way in this song, so be sure to check it out.

Another track I love is called “Try You On.” It has a little slower start, and then proceeds to smack you upside the face with full force. This song is a great one to put on when you’re working out, driving down the highway, or even just need to let out some aggression. Take a listen and you will see what I mean.

Another Me With Creeps track I know you will dig is called “New School Villain.” This track may be my favorite on the album. Why you ask? Well, many reasons; I love the riffs, I love the energy, and I can see myself rocking to this one life. I also like the lyrics a lot; it’s almost an anthem of rebellion, if you will.

This whole album is insanely good and well produced, and I highly recommend you listen to it from start to finish. If you are a metal fan, you will swoon; if you appreciate talented musicians, you should also swoon. It’s that simple; they’ve got it going ON!

If you want to learn more about Me With Creeps, you can follow them on Facebook, Bandcamp, and all over the place. You will want to find out when they are playing live, as well as buy their music, because trust me, you will not be disappointed. They are playing at Mexicali live in Teaneck, NJ on March 13, so be sure to save that date. I am so happy this band reached out, because now I am completely and utterly hooked.

I will be back next week with some more talent of your liking, so keep on sending in those submissions. The Local Radar lives on, one band at a time!
