Maria’s Local Radar: The Flying Ivories

It’s about that time, and I have some great music to talk to you about this week. If you know me and follow this column, you know I am a complete sucker for a good cover band. However, a cover band with a twist, this is something new to me, and honestly, right up my alley.

I recently received some tunes from a band called The Flying Ivories, and they left a nice impression in my eardrums. If you haven’t heard of them, I will do my best to get you acquainted with them now. If you’ve heard of them, even better; you can celebrate their greatness and talent with me for a few paragraphs.

Now, these guys aren’t your typical local band that I usually spotlight, as they have a different mission in mind: “to deliver a show that’s part music, part comedy and all fun.” To provide a brief background in their own words, “With a rotating roster of top performers from around the country, The Flying Ivories deliver an all-request, rock and roll sing along straight to your event.” Now, a group that is talented and delivers to the listeners’ wants and needs, what more could we ask for? Maybe you are planning a party, wedding, or event that you need some entertainment for? I think these guys are right up your alley.

I recently watched a live video of these guys in action, and my heart melted. They are not only entertaining and fun, but super talented as well! These days, I think it’s very important to go out and have a good time with something that is lighthearted, setting the mood for everyone. Plus, if you’d like to recruit them for one of your events, you can catch them live every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at BAR NINE in New York City. They play everything from Metallica to Billy Joel, and everything in between. I found it hilarious in their bio when they state, “If you enjoy seeing two grown men performing Carly Rae Jepsen, then this is the show for you.” Honestly, who wouldn’t want to see that at this point? I think it’s also cool, that unlike many bands, no show is ever the same. You can customize what YOU want to hear, and have the experience YOU want to have. What could be better than that?

Making people smile since 2001, The Flying Ivories have something for everyone. If you are interested in finding out more about them, or booking them for an upcoming event near you, check out their official website at FlyingIvories.com. They are also on Facebook, with plenty of photos and videos to give you an idea of what you are in for.
