NEW YORK, NY—Reunion tours warm my heart because I get to see all the bands that I missed out on before I was even conceived. So once I heard that most of the original members of The Specials were touring, I was going—even if it meant that I had to dance next to the smoky hotdog stand outside the venue the whole time.

After a quick ride into the city, I left my purse in my car, was ready to dance my troubles away, and for my face to be melted off by the end of the night. It’s nice…

NEW YORK, NY—Last time I saw Echo And The Bunnymen, I was 17 and I remember asking an older couple waiting in line in front of me at The Stone Pony to say I was their daughter so I could get into the 18-plus show. Luckily, the bouncers let it slide and I spent the night stealing drinks from 40-year-olds with teased out hair and fancy looking scarves. So after not seeing them for seven years, I figured it’d be a good idea to see the band without having to run to the bathroom stall to chug whatever drink I…

No dude, being the Misfits’ drummer for a week before they were called The Misfits doesn’t get you on their Wikipedia page! Or does it? I remember Bobby Steele’s name because he never wears a shirt, he “invented” the East Village and hardcore among other things, and he’s in The Undead.

I Made A Monster is a fun charged punk EP that features three songs. While the title track is guitar heavy with haunting horror punk styled lyrics, the B-sides,…

Though it’d be cool to hear “New Direction” one more time.

Letting her heart lead her and not being too jaded, singer-songwriter Jess Klein embraces the good and bad in her life and puts it into her finger-picking melodies. After living in the Northeast for most of her life, Klein decided to move to Austin where she recorded her new album, Bound To Love. With her heart wrenching voice and percolating guitar, her maudlin music can be heard when she plays The Saint on May 5 and at The Rockwood Music Hall on May 6. Ages 18 and up (The Saint). 21 and up (Rockwood).

What do you get when you combine a guy from a singing vampire show in Vegas, and guys who started a band on a hard rock message board? You get FarCry, a band that’s all about unbuttoned shirts and chest hair. Besides rocking out and being awesome, lead singer Mark Giovi has also coached the most hard rock artist ever: Aaron Carter. They play on April 25 at Kat-Man-Du in Trenton. Must have moustache to enter. farcryband.net.

I think Jessie Murphy In The Woods sound like one of those pink music boxes complete with spinning ballerinas and awkward pauses. The NYC-based trio has wowed many with their unique folk pop melodies, Murphy’s heartbreaking lyrics, and their fun rendition of The Sound Of Music’s “My Favorite Things.” Besides being in a cute band and playing a plethora of musical instruments, all members are NYC public school music teachers. They’re singing their haunting melodies on tour promoting their new album, Eight Belles. They play The Studio at Webster Hall on April 16 and The American Folk Art Museum on…

Why does everyone have his or her own hot sauce? Metal band Hades even has their own (which will make your mouth feel like the fiery pits of hell) and they’ve never been on a reality TV show. They are apparently huge in Germany though, so maybe that’s why they’ve gained so much cred in the spicy metal scene. Bringing back their original saucy line-up from 1986, the band will take metalheads back in time with their funny facial hair and guitar sweeps. Well, I’m out of bad clichés, so come watch Hades sizzle when they play Dingbatz on April…

With their girly background harmonies and Jilted John-like lead vocals, UK band Los Campesinos is what indie pop should be: Awkwardly cute. Forming in 2006, their use of violin, melody horn, and a glockenspiel allowed them to outshine the rest of the greasy indie pop bands with their unique dancey melodies. They’ve been on tour promoting their newest album, Romance Is Boring. They play Maxwell’s on April 17. $20. All ages. loscampesinos.com.
