Statistics just released showed that property taxes in New Jersey, already the highest in the United States, went up an average of 2.4 percent in 2011. The politicians in Trenton are congratulating each other for keeping it so low, while those in towns around the state are claiming the small increase meant they had to slash services and lay off employees.

They should all be ashamed of themselves. They are ethically and morally challenged if they think that their 2 percent cap plan is fair to the people of New Jersey. There should be a required reduction in property taxes…

“Our first drummer was from Spring Lake,” explains lead singer Tom Smeaton, when asked about the genesis of the name Mercer Avenue. “One day, we were just biking around the towns down there when Dan fell off his bike. He landed in front of the Mercer Avenue street sign, and the band name came out of that. I guess you could say it was a joke on him at the time, but it really stuck. Not to mention we never thought of anything better!”

Garland Jeffreys is a true rock and roll survivor, having been a contemporary of Lou Reed before his Velvet Underground days, being a part of the legendary New York club scene in the ‘60s, achieving chart success in Europe and later in the U.S., and still touring to this day.

One of Garland’s songs, “Wild In The Streets,” has become something of an anthem for the skate community and has been covered by artists such as the Circle Jerks and Chris Spedding. His song “Matador” went Top 5 in a number of countries in Europe in the late ‘70s,…

I suppose with 24-hour news networks, they need things like this fill up the time.

The only reason the Iowa Caucus gets so much attention is that it is the first test for candidates who are running for President. But as far as a real indicator of who’s going to win on the national…

Little Feat has always been known as a “musician’s band.” And the seminal live album, Waiting For Columbus, which came out in the late ‘70s, is still considered one of the great live albums in the history of rock.

Surviving the passing of founding member and visionary Lowell George, the group has gone through a few line-up changes, but the core remains intact. As does the musical integrity of the band, and the desire to go where the music takes them, encompassing a wide variety of genres yet still retaining that signature Little Feat sound.
