NEW YORK, NY—On a crisp November night in New York City, a slew of 20, 30 and even 40-somethings congregated at Roseland Ballroom to experience a new metal sound.

Named for the forthcoming album of the same name due Dec. 6, The Path Of Totality tour fused the authenticity of Korn’s nearly 20-year-old sound to perfection with fierce electronic vibes. For The Path Of Totality album, the band collaborated with dubstep and electronic producers, including Excision, Datsik, Noisia, Kill The Noise and 12th Planet.

When the seasoned, (now) four-piece ensemble approached the stage, the pandemonium ensued. A Korn concert…

It may have been just me, but I thought that the alternative metal band Korn haven’t released anything in years and if they had, it probably didn’t sell too well. Much to my surprise, it turns out to be the polar opposite. Their most recent album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, was released last year and peaked at number two on the Billboard charts. That makes eight full-length albums in a row that have landed inside the top 10.

The collection contains two CDs, each of which has 14 tracks. Disc one includes some of their biggest hits…

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—When they announced the lineup for this year’s Music As A Weapon Tour, my first thought was Korn and Disturbed in a club? Weren’t these guys playing arenas? Throw Sevendust into the mix and you have your one-two-three punch for power-packed metal show! A couple of weeks prior, this tour made a stop at Monmouth University, which I heard still hasn’t fully recovered from the brutality. And I’ve never seen a show at The House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ, so this was going to be interesting.

For you non-Sevendust followers, Sevendust is an influential metal band out of Atlanta, GA that was formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and guitarist John Connolly. After recording their first demo, the trio found singer Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery. Like many bands, they endured many name changes before settling on Sevendust, at which point, Twisted Sister guitarist J.J. French signed on to manage the band.

In April of 1997, they released their debut self-titled debut CD on TVT records and since then they have gone on to release eight more studio albums, with…

Bringing that big metal package tour back, Rockstar Energy Drink’s Mayhem Festival has announced that Korn and Rob Zombie will headline this summer’s tour, swinging through the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, on July 23 and PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, on July 28.

Other main stage acts include Lamb Of God and Five Finger Death Punch. The Jagermeister-branded stage will feature Hatebreed, Chimaira, Shadows Fall, Winds Of Plague and some battle of a bands winner, and then there’s another stage (called a second stage, but it sounds like a third stage to us) with…

Unarguably, not since Ozzy Osbourne himself has metal witnessed such a multi-dimensional and transfixing enigma yet utterly relatable frontman as Korn’s Jonathan Davis. His ingenious paraphernalia included kilts, bagpipes and an H. R. Giger-crafted microphone stand, but above all, his steel plated throat and intensely enveloping psychodrama set him apart from the word “Go.” Coupled with the rest of these California assailants’ seven-string guitar bombast, tuning savvy and dangerous albeit slick production quality, Korn garnished multi-platinum record sales, and that’s to say nothing of causing the ground to shake under arenas globally and eventually attaining iconic status.

The quintessential band…

It’s kind of ironic that they call it the “Family Values Tour” since that famous four letter “F” word (you know what I fucking mean) was just as much a part of the tour as any other headlining act of the day. Although, what American family do you know that hasn’t tossed that word around like a football at some point? So actually, calling this profanity filled day full of music and “F”- bombs the Family Values Tour is really just a testament to who we really are—and that fucking rocks!

As always, the headliners of the Main Stage didn’t…
