Following the release of 2009’s Mean Everything To Nothing, Manchester Orchestra’s reputation of being one of the most influential alternative acts of our generation came to full fruition. Although the Atlanta troupe created buzz in the scene with their debut full-length, I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child, which perfectly highlighted lead singer Andy Hull’s cryptic narratives with haunting and hypnotic orchestrations, the sophomore effort truly showcased the band’s instrumental creativity and capability. Chock full of hits like “I’ve Got Friends” and “Shake It Out,” Mean Everything To Nothing blurred lines between musical genres by combining subtle southern twang,…

NEW YORK, NY— There’s nothing more rewarding than a day of nice weather in New York City. That is, unless it’s topped off with a night filled with incredible music provided by a solid lineup of the alternative and indie genres’ most sought-after acts. After a day of wandering aimlessly through Columbus Circle, Central Park and scarfing down a pistachio cupcake from the famous Magnolia Bakery on Columbus Avenue, my boyfriend and I moseyed over to Terminal 5 to enjoy the few final blocks of fresh air. Since Manchester Orchestra just celebrated the release of their newest album, Simple…

What am I thankful for this holiday season? Vincent Accardi for being the ridiculously handsome man he is and that I get to see him next weekend. Brand New, GlassJaw, Thrice, Manchester Orchestra and Kevin Devine will be playing next Saturday at Nassau Colisseum, you all better be there! Bring me leftover stuffing, kthanks.

Recapping my week, Roseland Ballroom echoed my early adolescent years during AFI’s set. The fact that music has the power to immediately warp me back seven years and allows me to feel that way again…amazing. At the same time, I’ve never seen so much goth-life guy-liner…
