Interview with Motley Crue: Mission To Mars With Saint Mick

So, you’ve been on the road with CrüeFest for the past two months. Do you have to have a favorite band that you’re on the road with?

Oooh! That’s a hard one! Umm, I like them all a lot. Good lord, if I had to pick only one…

You can’t say Mötley Crüe.

No, I wouldn’t say Mötley Crüe! (laughs) Um, probably. God, it’s really hard for me to say just one. They’re all really good to me.

Now, how is Nikki Sixx getting by? He’s playing two sets, one with Sixx A.M. and one with Motley Crüe? Does he just go straight back onto his bus to go to sleep?

If you remember on Red, White, and Crüe tour, we were doing like two to two-and-a-half hour sets, so it’s about the same for him. Only this time, he gets a two hour break in between sets because Sixx A.M. only does 30 minutes, but he’s holding up pretty good.

What’s your favorite Mötley Crüe song to play in the set?

I’d have to say ‘Motherfucker Of The Year.’

Which, by the way, is the latest single and video off of Saints Of Los Angeles, right?

Yeah, and it’s a fun song to play.

Who wrote ‘Motherfucker Of The Year?’

I have to look at the credits again, but I believe Nikki and James Michael (Sixx A.M.) wrote it.

Now, did James Michael have a huge hand in writing on this record, Saints Of Los Angeles?

He had a lot to do with it in a capacity of writing and being as a producer, he would come up with parts. He would come up with a lot of great ideas and a lot of good chord changes with melody lines and all sorts of good stuff like that. So, yeah, he played a really important role.
