Inked Out: New York Adorned Tattoo

For the most part, New York Adorned is a custom shop, but the staff does get their inspiration from traditional Japanese, Americana, and tribal art. All of the equipment used in the shop is autoclave sterilized and hospital grade disinfected for every use. This is always a good thing to see when your shopping for your next tattoo. One thing that New York Adorned offers that I’ve never really seen in any tattoo shop that I’ve visited is the traditional Indian Henna tattooing called Mehndi. A 5,000-year-old art of staining the hands and feet with intricate floral and other shapely designs. The leaves of the henna plant, citrus juices, and essential oils are mixed into a paste and left on the skin for several hours resulting in a light-orange to a deep burgundy colored tattoo that lasts from one to three weeks.

Like all tattoo shops, New York Adorned has their policies that they stay strict to when it comes to making an appointment, although walk-ins are always welcome. Both shops require a government issued photo ID like a passport, driver’s license, etc. A deposit of $50 per hour is required to schedule an appointment. The deposit goes towards the price of your tattoo. If there is a need to cancel the appointment, a 24-hour notice is required or you lose your deposit completely. New York Adorned only accepts cash for their work and they advise that only one friend accompany the customer during the procedure. They also state that they won’t tattoo anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The shop is open seven days a week—Sunday through Thursday 1 p.m. till 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. till 10 p.m.

Like I said earlier, New York Adorned is not only a tattoo parlor. They also pierce at the NYC location. Their piercing staff is highly trained, and prides themselves on their precision piercing services. They will take the time to insure that the piercing experience is stress free and comfortable. The piercing staff includes J. Colby Smith, Danielle, and Greg. Since they’re also a jewelry store, I guess that it’s kind of obvious that their line of body jewelry is pretty extensive.

I felt that this shop was clean, friendly, and diverse. It had a lot to offer to not just a tattoo customer, but also pretty much anyone who walked into the joint. Check it out for yourself!
