The first thing that struck me about this band was their name, Tired Pony. Dreamy music with a country feel, their music is really hard to pin down but don’t be too surprised considering this group contains Peter Buck of R.E.M. The music by Tired Pony is simple but it isn’t boring in the slightest. Lain Archer is a solid vocalist who has a peculiar strong, yet soothing voice. This is one of those releases that is awash with delay and reverb where it counts to give it a really laidback feel that never falls into monotony. They’ll be playing the The Late Show With David Letterman on Sept 30 and The Fillmore at Irving Plaza Friday Oct. 1. Their new album The Place We Ran From is available now.
