Vieux Farka Touré: Breaking Away From Tradition

Performing at the Dave Matthews Caravan Festival this year is Vieux Farka Touré aka “The Hendrix Of The Sahara.” He is set to steal the stage as he pairs up with bassist Mamadou Sidibe and drummer Tim Keiper. Aside from performing live, Vieux has been busy in the studio this past year releasing his third studio album, The Secret. His third release offers up African blues with a twist of rock-influenced solos. Be sure to check him out as he performs on the South Island Field of Governor’s Island on Aug. 26 and The Rotunda in Philly on Aug. 27.
