Ari Picker, the central member of North Carolina’s Lost In The Trees, is classically-trained as a composer, and uses that sensibility to fill the intimate spaces of his songs with sumptuous and sweeping symphonies. The collective’s sophomore effort, A Church That Fits Our Needs, is a tribute to Picker’s late mother, who took her own life in 2009. According to Picker, the music is not only a memorial, but a little piece of eternity, a place for her soul to inhabit. Lost In The Trees will be coming to the Lincoln Center For The Performing Arts on Feb. 28.
