Prong: Brutally Pushing Forward

Thrash metal pioneers Prong formed in the mid-‘80s when CBGB’s soundman Tommy Victor joined forces with the club’s doorman and drummer Ted Parsons of Swans. Influenced by the hardcore punk and no wave movement that grew out of the iconic club, Prong crafted original, low, hard-hitting thrash metal that has set the standard for many contemporary bands, and have been going strong for almost three decades. Today, bands like Nine Inch Nails, Korn, and Demon Hunter cite Prong as a main influence. The band is currently supporting its latest record Ruining Lives, playing at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on Sept. 27, Philly’s Trocadero Theatre on Sept. 28, and Gramercy Theatre in NYC on Sept. 30.
