The Sonics: Punk Rock’s Crazy Uncle

Legendary garage rock band The Sonics have made a triumphant return with the release of their new album, This Is The Sonics, exactly 50 years after the release of their debut. This Washington-based quintet are cited as influences for such bands as Nirvana and Bruce Springsteen, and employed punk instrumentation years before the punk scene took off. Shows in the area include April 8 at New York’s Irving Plaza and April 9 at Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar.
