Maria’s Local Radar: Wild Americans

I always love getting new music to get me through that mid-week slump of the workweek, you feel me? I am sure most of you agree; a song can really change the pace and mood of the day, and my artist of the week has done just that.

I recently discovered this band following Jersey Rock on the Rat, and fell in love deeply, and quickly. You may or may not have heard them, but they go by the name of Wild Americans. Their band name alone had me at hello. Having recently become a major fan, I will do my best to catch you up to speed in regards to what they are up to these days.

So, how would they describe their sound? Well, in the best way possible, “Mid-Tempo Space Music.” If you weren’t intrigued enough, this is just the icing on the cake. Let’s proceed to give you what you need.

Wild Americans are from Montclair, New Jersey, which is gradually becoming one of my favorite music cities. I have gotten more and more submissions from bands in this town, getting better each time. In their own words, “Their music conveys the acceptance of defeat, without the satisfaction of acceptance.” I love everything about that quote, because they march to the beat of their own drum, which is clearly present in their sound.

They recently released a new music video for their single “I Want To Take You Home,” and it’s a must see. This track will really give you the perfect introduction as to what this band is all about—being cool. I love the whole vibe of this video, as it takes place in a peaceful neighborhood, setting the tone for this single. The lyrics are uplifting (in an off-base way), and I love the tone of Andrew and Mike’s voices together. This track and video were both extremely well-produced, and I could definitely hear this song on alternative radio. This may sound weird, but it has a rock vibe, while remaining insanely chill. It has major hit quality. I believe Charlie Chalkin Productions produced this video, so give them a “like” while you are at it. I wouldn’t be surprised if you soon encountered this on something like mtvU.

I highly recommend you also check out their song “Loser Freaks,” as that one has become one of the top songs on my playlist. I love the lyrics of this song, and I think a lot of people could relate to it. If their live set is as good as their recordings, I think they have a serious thing going on here.

If you want to learn more about Wild Americans, you can visit their official website at BeAWildAmerican.com. They are also all over social media, sharing their new music video, tour dates, photos, and much more. I couldn’t compare them to another band if I tried, and I mean that in the best way possible. They’ve got the style, the look, the sound, and the originality, all wrapped up in a perfect package of talent. The three members all bring the perfect amount of flavor to this dish, and I cannot wait to hear more from them.

Until next week, my friends, I am going to continue my quest of becoming a Wild American, as everyone should. Cheers!
