Having a debut album nominated for “Best Contemporary R&B Album of the Year” at the Grammys isn’t too bad. Emily King is a pop-soul singer-songwriter, but has some jazz in her blood from her parents, jazz duo Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti. A deluxe edition of her new album, The Switch, will be released July 8. Emily King will be performing at Union Transfer in Philadelphia July 11 and then returning to her hometown in NYC to play at Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan July 14 and Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn July 15.
