Shoreworld: Lakehouse Complex Celebrates Expansion With Grand Opening

Three-Story Creative Complex Hosts Family Event With Live Performances, One-Day Sales, Exclusive Tours, And More

Jon Leidersdorff has always held a vision for an expansive presence in Asbury Park. When he started with the original Lakehouse back in 2013, he strived for community involvement and a family-oriented vibe in his little area of town. That goal has been met many times over throughout the last few years and between the studio, the academy and the host of businesses in the building (Russo’s Music, Bands On A Budget, Cowerks and several others) he has done quite well in his visionary quest for growth and involvement within the town of Asbury Park.

On Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, the newly expanded Lakehouse Music buildings located at 619-621 Lake Avenue in Asbury Park will be opening their doors to the public for a family-friendly Grand Opening Celebration. With live music from local rock groups, an outdoor grill, beer tent, guided tours, free giveaways, and one-day promotions from a variety of businesses, guests of all ages can discover something exciting in this newly expanded creative complex in downtown Asbury Park.

Guests will be greeted with an organic, outdoor barbecue by Kitch Organic, and a beer tent sponsored by Asbury Park Brewery, with entertainment from local DJ Mikey Gallo. All drink proceeds will be donated to Asbury Park Music Foundation and their youth initiative partnership with Lakehouse Music Academy. APMF is transforming the AP Moto Club lounge into a pop-up stage for performances by Von Mons and Gods, at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

During the afternoon, guests can also get on stage alongside a full stack of vintage amps provided by Russo Music and have their photographs taken by Lakehouse building resident Holtz Photography.

Visitors will be given a free, limited edition T-shirt with original artwork designed by Gregory Edgerton, Creative Director of Humble Humans, a full stack design agency residing in Cowerks, a creative workplace for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and freelancers.

Lakehouse music staff members invite visitors to participate in fully guided tours to see Lakehouse Music Academy’s brand new rehearsal studios, lesson rooms, and new interactive curriculum. The tours continue through Lakehouse Recording Studios, newly expanded Cowerks workspaces, Monmouth University’s new Music Industry facility, and will introduce guests to Lakehouse’s new tenants and friends, world-famous record producers Machine (Fall Out Boy, Lamb Of God) and Steve Greenwell (Joss Stone, Andy Grammer, and James Maddock).

In addition to these tours, guests are encouraged to take advantage of special promotions offered by businesses throughout both buildings. Family-influenced and operated barbershop, Swagger and Blade, is offering free haircuts to veterans, law enforcement officers, and firefighters on the day of Lakehouse’s Grand Opening. Ladies can visit the Boho Hair Salon Holiday Market featuring R+Co and Coldspring Apothecary hair product gift bags and exclusive macramé gallery, all under $50. Get pampered at the Dry/Express Hair Bar, Makeup Consultations, and take home a special promo coupon for first visits.

Musicians will want to visit Russo Music for a free restring and tune service with the purchase of new strings*, including fret polish, fingerboard clean and condition, guitar cleaning, restring, stretch, and tune. (*Floyd Rose not applicable.) Gold Group Enterprises will be hosting a gift auction on the third-floor balcony benefitting Asbury Park Music Foundation. One day only, Bands On A Budget, located in Cowerks, will be offering 10% off first orders over $150.

Additionally, Cowerks will be offering a free day pass of coworking. Owner Jon Leidesdorff and the entire Lakehouse staff are looking forward to hosting this action-packed event to celebrate the ever-growing, supportive community of creatives that has fostered growth, the arts, and education in Asbury Park since Lakehouse’s original opening in 2013.

Leidesdorff declares, “It’s such an exciting time in Asbury Park, and it’s exciting to be part of what’s happening here at Lakehouse. All of these businesses are filled with and run by interesting people from our community who are doing creative things. We want to invite everyone to come to the Grand Opening to meet us and take a tour.”

Songs For Joseph – December 10, 2016 – The Brighton Bar, Long Branch, NJ

Joseph is a 12-year-old Long Branch boy and son to Wendy Ferguson. Wendy is married to The Easy Outs frontman Bruce Ferguson and also manages the group. I was recently informed that they are facing insurmountable medical expenses as Joseph has subaortic stenosis of the heart. From this diagnosis, it has been determined that Joseph will need open heart surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA shortly. In the spirit of assistance, local musicians, friends and bar owner Greg Macolino are coming together to lend a musical hand. There will be a benefit to help assure that Joseph gets the best possible care that health insurance is not covering. We all know how dysfunctional health insurance and the current debacle of government has left many who need better care out in the cold due to uncovered situations or consistently rising costs.

The benefit at The Brighton Bar will include a raffle of rock and roll memorabilia, gift certificates, jewelry, band photos, signed CDs, T-shirts and more. Seasoned rock DJ Rich Russo from the WRAT and Underground Garage will be emceeing the event.

At the forefront of this event will be the musical guests lending their support. The list is a veritable “who’s who” of local warriors and acts including The Easy Outs, a surprise reunion of 1980s supergroup Secret Syde, The Brue Crew, Garage Sale, Santa Ray, Stonebaby, Strumberry Pie, members of CSN songs, Broken Past, Blackwater, John Hathaway with Decades, The Brats, Big Wave and many others to be added on the Facebook announcement page.

Bubbakoos will be providing catering for the event, and Josh Figueroa brother to Joseph) has organized a GoFundMe page for those unable to attend over at gofundme.com/2w5eej8.

For further information on the benefit, contact Wendy Ferguson at greatwht@aol.com or check out the event Facebook page at facebook.com/songsforjoseph. Doors open at 4 PM and the admission price is a mere $10.00 at the door.
