Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi released his first solo album, 151a, on April 10. Bashi will be kicking off his first headlining tour with back-to-back performances (7 and 9:30 p.m.) at Joe’s Pub in NYC on July 26. His first attempt at a solo career away from Of Montreal and Jupiter One seems to be quite successful so far. One would think electronic music with a violin does not make sense, but Bashi has produced and composed his music in such a way that it works very well. The album tantalizes your ears with the many facets of sounds bouncing from classical, electronic, indie rock, and pop.
