North Jersey Notes Updates

I have to send congrats out to Ippy And The Project’s Paul and Linda Ippolito. They welcomed their latest “project,” Paul Vincent Ippolito, into the world a few weeks ago. Little Paulie was born about a month early and with some respiratory complications. Paul and Linda say that the baby will be ok, but still welcome your prayers! Catch Ippy And The Project this Saturday night, March 21, down at the Dublin Pub in Morristown, NJ, and congratulate the happy couple, or send them a message on their MySpace page, myspace.com/ippyandtheproject.

I know that we haven’t heard from him in a while, but my bud, Q*Ball, Ron Scalzo, has just released a new music video for his song “John Hughes” which features Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, who is actually an artist on Q*Ball’s own record label, Bald Freak Music. You can see the “John Hughes” music video on Q*Ball’s label page, baldfreak.com.

There’s finally music up on Dragstrip Grind’s MySpace page! Hooray! The song is called “Darlin’ It’s You” and it’s not that bad! I’ve been promised music for months! On a whim, I decided to go to Dragstrip Grind’s page (it’s such a cool name, Books!), and to my surprise, a great song has been posted! You need to check out “Darlin’ It’s You” at myspace.com/dragstripgrind. I’m starting to think that this North Jersey scene is developing a signature sound and I like it!

The boys from Factory Syndicate have posted a new gig on their MySpace page, myspace.com/factorysyndicate. For those with short-term memory loss, Factory Syndicate features members from Split Vision and Ten Feet from Murder. They’ll be playing their first live gig as a band at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, opening for Dethklok, the fictional Death Metal band featured in the Adult Swim animated series Metalocalypse. I’m not sure how they’re going to pull this off, but it should be interesting! Go to iTunes now and download Factory Syndicate’s metal version of the Run DMC classic, “Rock Box” or listen to a snippet of it first on myspace.com/factorysyndicate.

And finally, my bros from Black Water Rising are celebrating their CD release in style! Rob, Johnny, Odie, and Mike will finally be releasing their long-awaited self-titled CD on April 7, but to celebrate they’ve enlisted the help of my bros from Saint Caine and Piston Driven, which features former Saint Caine guitarist Joey “Smokes” Wilkinson. The CD release party will happen at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ, on Saturday, April 4 with WDHA’s Scott Evil hosting the event. For more info on the CD release party, log onto myspace.com/blackwaterrising, myspace.com/saintcane, myspace.com/pistondriven, or dingbatznj.com.

That’s all for now! And remember, if your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your demos and press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140 Little Falls, NJ 07424. No cover bands, please!

Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
