An Actor And His Guitar

Best known for his performance in John Cameron Mitchell’s movie, Shortbus, Jay Brannan’s music career started when his song “Soda Shop,” became the most downloaded off the soundtrack. He is now off the big screen and behind a guitar. Come see him play July 8 at Joe’s Pub and July 11 at Maxwell’s.

His debut album, goddamned, showed his singer/songwriter abilities with his warm Tracy Chapman-like voice and heartbroken lyrics. His new album, In Living Color, features clever folk renditions of The Cranberries’ “Zombie” and The Verve Pipe’s “The Freshman,” along with others. The album also unleashes two new haunting songs and is available on July 7. For more info, visit myspace.com/jaybrannan.
