People Of The North are making their Thrill Jockey debut with a release show July 30 at Death By Audio for their third album, Sub Contra. The record offers an uncommon and incredible demonstration of improvisation and a unique use of synth and instruments. From the very beginning with “Drama Class,” a minimalistic opening filled with dissonance and heavy distortion, to the closing, “Osage Orange,” a 14-minute blend of harmonious instrumentals, synth effects and a continuous droning that sets the tone for the entire piece, this artistic take on experimental psychedelia delivers every second.
