North Jersey Notes: Killcode, Weapon of Anew, Resurge, and more

A couple of weekends ago, my bros from Killcode released a teaser for their upcoming video for their song “Kicking and Screaming.” The video seemed to be a compilation of live footage from the boys as they rocked festivals in Mexico and South America with Twisted Sister. I have to be honest, I can’t wait to see this full video. For more on Killcode, visit killcode.net.

I caught up with my brothers and former bandmates, Ray West and Chris Manfre, from Weapons Of Anew, on their Philadelphia stop of the Alter Bridge and Nonpoint tour, and I’d be lying if I wasn’t a little jealous that these guys got to play in front of that huge crowd. The Electric Factory was packed to the gills and Ray and crew were on point as they jammed through five songs, including the band’s debut single “Killshot” off of the band’s upcoming debut CD by way of OK!Good Records. The music orchestrated by guitarist Freddy Ordine was nice and heavy, while it was rounded out by the amazing vocals of Ray Ray West. I got to hang with Ray and Chris on the band’s RV and they told me that they’re just having a lot of fun. We can expect some local shows this spring as the CD release nears. Dave Incognito sent me a message last week about his band Incognito Theory’s new music video for the band’s new single, “Reckoning,” which is now looking at a March release date. Dave also told me that the band has officially announced that Scott Pustilnick from Inari One is their permanent bass player. For more on Incognito Theory, visit Facebook.com/IncognitoTheory.

A couple of months ago, I mentioned that the band formerly known as Audio Empire has “resurged” as the band Resurge featuring bassist and my BFF, Roy Brunston, and guitarist Dan Neary from Audio Empire. Well, the singer they had in the band quit before he could even make his live debut with the band. Once again, Tim Louie to the rescue! I suggested that Roy reach out to my fellow Saddle Brook brethren and owner of Handsome Devil Tattoo, Russell Kelly. As it turns out, Russell killed his auditions and has become the new singer of Resurge. Look for Resurge to come out swinging this spring. For more info on Resurge, visit Facebook.com/RESURGEmusic.

According to my buddy Juliet Huddy’s new Blondes And Crossbones website, while Zire’s War frontman, Joey Z, puts the band on ice to tour with his longtime crew, Life Of Agony, Zire’s guitarist, Juliet’s fiancée and my bro, Johnny “Fatts” Fattoruso, has been busy working on his very own project. Fatts has teamed up with Zire’s drummer Felipe Torres to work on material for a band they are calling The Deceived, where Fatts will be taking the lead vocal duties. Fatts and Torres hope to complete their lineup for The Deceived in the next couple of months. In the meantime, Fatts and Torres are spending time at each other’s homes in Jersey writing riffs and beats, with lyrics on the way soon.

And finally, since Fatts was a member of Black Water Rising, let’s talk about his former bandmate Oddie McLaughlin and his new side project Ides Of God featuring my old guitar player and brother, Dennis Kimak. The band is so underground that they released a new music video for their song “Dirty Black Jesus” back in December and I didn’t even know about it. I came across it one day last week when my bro Oddie showed up on my timeline. The video is a great hard rock song and I’d love to hear more from these guys.
