North Jersey Notes: Pyramada, Black Water Rising, Audio Machine and More!

My friend Dee Fago has been telling me so much about these guys from Pyramada and I’ve heard of them, but never really got a chance to give them a listen. Then I log onto the band’s page to see that I already know these guys. It was the Pollio brothers. I’ve been back and forth with these guys on Facebook so many times. It’s kind of weird that I never checked their band out before. Anyway, I gave them a listen and heard the songs “Hear Me” and “Walk Away,” which was the track that was stuck in my head for the next three hours.

Pyramada formed back in 2007 when brothers Peter and Paul Pollio began jamming some lost originals that they had written years ago and were just sitting around collecting dust. According to their bio, it was during this jam session that they decided maybe it was time for them to put a new band together. Paul used to manage an act called Tomorrow Leads To Nothing and always loved their lead guitarist, Ray Rives, so they invited Ray to join the band. After auditioning a plethora of drummers, in walked Michael Finkleday, whom they knew right away was the perfect fit for Pyramada.

Today, the fearsome foursome have one goal in mind, and that is to impress their audiences with their innovative style and roaring melodies. This is well represented on the group’s CD, Now Is The Time, which is available on Amazon. Catch Pyramada live this Sunday (4/28) at The Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ, with Charetta, Dead Wrong, Pocketful, and Rebuilt In Time. NORTH JERSEY NOTES UPDATES:

My bros from Black Water Rising will start releasing some new music from their upcoming brand new CD, but to get these songs, you have to sign up for the band’s mailing list via blackwaterrising.com to receive a special passcode to access and preview tracks off of the new disc, which won’t be out until early summer. I already heard a few of these songs from the boys and trust me, you want to sign up for this mailing list.

Speaking of new music, my boys Audio Machine unleashed some new music at their recent opening gig for Cycle Of Pain at The Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ, a couple of weekends ago. The song is called “Soul For Sale,” and it’s pretty good! It’s what you would expect from Audio Machine—catchy guitar riffs and strong vocal melodies. Take a look at the live video footage for “Soul For Sale” on facebook.com/audiomachinemusic.

And finally, my brothers from Rahway have also released something new! I haven’t heard from the Cardenas brothers in a while, but they’ve delivered a brand new song called “Drive Me Crazy,” and it’s not bad either. It’s pure guitar-driven rock ‘n’ roll with a little bit of sleaze added to it. Then again, what do you expect, they’re from Rahway! Check out the new song “Drive Me Crazy” at reverbnation.com/rahway.

That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!

Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts!
