North Jersey Notes: Lords Of Mercy, Sundown Conspiracy, Negative Sky and More!

My bros from Lords Of Mercy have finally released their self-titled debut full-length via Main Man Records. The guys launched Lords Of Mercy by way of a pretty successful CD release party at the legendary Stone Pony a few weeks back during a pretty bad snowstorm. Lords fans braved the storm and kicked the CD release off in style and the reviews of the 10-song album have been off the hook already. Lords Of Mercy was also engineered by my bro from Black Water Rising, Robbie Traynor, so you know the CD kicks ass. Bother the guys from Lords Of Mercy for a copy of their new disc at facebook.com/lordsofmercy. You won’t be let down!

The boys from Sundown Conspiracy have been in the studio with Cristian Machado from Ill Nino at his Sound Wars Studios in Hoboken. They recently released a new track produced by Cristian called “Worst Of It All” and the song is ridiculously awesome! The track is actually an older song that they reproduced and have made available on iTunes. That’s not all in the Sundown Conspiracy camp. The band has also added a new guitar player in Tommy Tsunami to the lineup earlier in 2013. Some might remember Tommy from his other projects Coffee Brains and Fate Strikes Twice, which featured my fallen brother Harry Dullys. Check out the new and improved Sundown Conspiracy at sundownconspiracynj.com.

I recently received a call from Matt O’Shaughnessy from WVOX out in New Rochelle, NY and Matt, along with Tony Gizzo, has been running his own Metal Mayhem show every Tuesday and Friday night. Matt has been a huge supporter of the local music scene. He recently had my bros from Negative Sky in for an interview and JD from Cycle Of Pain. Matt called to let me know about some of the interesting interviews he has coming up like this Friday, he has Jason Bittner from Shadows Fall, then on January 17 he’ll be hosting a four-hour Slayer special and on January 31, Jack Frost and his band Seven Witches will be in studio. Give Matt’s Metal Mayhem show a listen on wvox.com or listen live at 1460 AM.

Speaking of Negative Sky, I need to send out a huge congrats to my bros Dan Caputo, JJ Samatarro, George Pond and Tom Fitzgibbon on their recent signing with Rock Army Records out of Austin, TX. It might not be a major record deal, but it’s a major deal for all of us struggling bands on the scene. The boys of Negative Sky have been working their tails off this past year and that hard work has finally paid off! So, I tip my cap to one of the heaviest quartets in the Garden State. Congratulate Negative Sky now at facebook.com/negativeskynj.

And finally, in case you forgot, my band BlackOcean will be performing a huge show this Friday night at The Stone Pony with Cycle Of Pain featuring JD from Black Label Society, my bros Black Water Rising, Sekond Skyn and New Theory with That Metal Show’s Don Jamieson hosting the evening. If you didn’t already get your tickets, contact me at chigger273@aol.com and we’ll take care of all that. If you already have tickets, we’ll see you at The Stone Pony for a night of face-smashing hard rock! Check out my band BlackOcean at reverbnation.com/blackoceanmusic.

That’s all for now! If your band is from North Jersey, and you want some exposure, send your press kits to Arts Weekly, c/o Tim Louie P.O. Box 1140, Little Falls, NJ 07424, or you can email me at tim@theaquarian.com, where you can also let me know where you’re performing next!

Just remember….We’re all in the same boat, so every little bit of exposure counts! Have a Merry Christmas!
